Scholarships & Opportunities

Performance-based scholarships at Emory & Henry for incoming Art Majors.

Scholarships are open to incoming freshmen and transfer students and are based on an application, portfolio review, and interview.


Art Department Scholarship

Examples of student artwork. The portfolio should contain your best work; reflect a range of abilities, interests, and concepts, demonstrate skill in a variety of media, and show your ability to draw from real objects.

Once you receive the scholarship you are eligible to keep it for four years providing you meet the following expectations:

  • Maintain a 3.5 departmental GPA and an overall 3.0 GPA
  • Enroll in and complete ART 111, 112, 151 in your first year
  • Enroll in and complete ART 255, 210, 221, 222 in your second year
  • Enroll in and complete A1 upper level/300 or high ART class
  • Participate in 1 Departmentally Sponsored Exhibition
  • Apply for 1 (at least) external exhibition

Blue & Gold Juried Regional High School Art Exhibition

The Annual High School Art Show hosted at the McGlothlin Center for the Arts. Each year Emory & Henry invites area high school junior and senior students to submit artwork, in any media, to be juried in the Emory & Henry High School Arts Exhibition. Three students are awarded a scholarship to Emory & Henry, conditional upon acceptance to the University. 

Eligibility

  • Open to High School Juniors and Seniors residing within a 200-mile radius of Emory & Henry
  • All artwork must be original, ready to exhibit, and completed by the student in the last two years
  • For the protection of the work, we request that two-dimensional work be appropriately framed with wire hangers

Scholarships are still available. Please apply through the Portfolio Review process outlined above. The Blue & Gold Juried Regional High School Art Exhibition returns in 2024.
