Prospective Students
The Theatre Department at Emory & Henry awards a number of four-year scholarships to promising young theatre students.
We offer scholarship opportunities through auditions or portfolio reviews. We accept video submission for BFA admittance and Scholarship until Jan. 20, 2024. After Jan. 20th you will be notified if you have been passed onto our interview round. After all of the interviews have been completed, students will be notified of admittance and scholarship.
IN PERSON auditions are available only at our Super Saturday on Jan. 20th. (registration info to come). All other BFA and scholarship auditions should be submitted virtually via our online platform Acceptd.

Audition and Interview Requirements
All prospective scholarship and BFA students will be asked to:

supply a headshot and resume

be prepared for a brief interview
In addition, the following are specific requirements for each BFA/Scholarship track.
Prospective BFA in Performance students should prepare the following:
-
2 contrasting monologues (no longer than 3 minutes)
Prospective BFA in Musical Theatre students should prepare the following:
- 1 monologue (no more than 90 seconds in length)
- One full musical theatre song with accompaniment, no a cappella
- Dance/Movement evaluation (You may submit a dance combo of your own or use the one provided on our submission platform)
Prospective Directing and Stage Management students should prepare the following:
A portfolio of your directing work to date. A portfolio might include production photos, your annotated working scripts, programs, reviews, etc.
Additionally please be prepared to answer questions from the following list (questions will vary):
- Who is your favorite playwright and why?
- Who/what is your greatest artistic influence as a director?
- Describe your experience at a particularly influential production you have seen.
- Name a play you would like to direct and tell us why?
- What do you see as the main role/job of the director in a production?
Prospective BFA in Production & Design students should prepare the following:
- Portfolio - Portfolios can be physical paper portfolios and or web-based. A portfolio might include production photos, drafting, renderings, models, prompt script, audio clips, video clips, artwork, programs, reviews, etc.
