Emory & Henry students volunteer at Migrant Health Fair

E&H Spanish students will be volunteering at a community health fair on Sunday, May 2.

The Southwest Virginia Community Health Systems Alianza de Salud is offering a drive-through health fair for all community members with interpreters on site to serve Hispanic participants. This event will take place on Sunday, May 2 from 2 - 6 p.m. in the Chilhowie Town Park. Community members will receive free health screenings and other health services.

Anna Fuller, a senior at Emory & Henry, is currently interning for the clinic and is involved in organizing the event.

“It’s important to me to be involved with the event to better connect with the community I live in,” says Fuller.

The Emory & Henry Introductory Medical Spanish students will be volunteering and distributing health comic books that they have spent the semester researching and creating. Upper-level Emory & Henry Spanish students will also be volunteering at the event as interpreters.

Emory & Henry spans facilities from Marion to Bristol in Virginia serving more than 1,400 students.
