Aleah Bowers returns to hometown to teach elementary school
Our Emory & Henry seniors are preparing to graduate and change the world.
Aleah Bowers, from Abingdon, Va., will graduate in May 2021 with a degree in Interdisciplinary History and Social Studies. While earning her degree, she has been serving as a substitute teacher for Washington County Schools.
“As education students, we are required to get more than 300 hours of experience in the classroom, and I believe that really prepared me to teach full-time,” says Bowers. “Dr. Thomas Little, Professor Toni Lawson, and Dr. Janet Crickmer have all been a major influence on me, and I hope that I make them proud as I begin my career.”
After graduation, Bowers will begin her teaching career with Washington County Schools, in the same town that she grew up in.
