E&H’s WEHC Launches Spring Fund Drive

WEHC 90.7, Emory & Henry College’s “College and Community Station,” has launched it spring fund drive. Between now and March 9 the station is planning to raise a good share of its annual fundraising goal.

During the drive, which seeks to help the college raise $50,000 by July 1, programmers will be asking listeners to contribute to the non-commercial station, which relies heavily on individual support. Unlike most non-commercial stations, WEHC receives no funding from state or federal sources.

“Our listening audience is growing, and as it grows we hear more frequently from listeners about how much they appreciate our programming and what WEHC means to communicating the assets, interests and concerns of the people of this region,” said Dirk Moore, general manager of WEHC. “That demonstrates to us the immense value of our programming and why it is important to support it.”

Public support helps keep the Emory & Henry radio station on the air by offering engineering and programming costs, music and licensing fees, streaming fees and power bills, among other expenses.

As the Emory & Henry College radio station, WEHC is committed to serving the people of Southwest Virginia, not just through its coverage area but through its ever-popular online stream and use of podcasts.

“As we are looking toward our future, we also look to be a continuing and growing part of the five counties we reach through with our 9,000 watt signal that is entirely powered by solar energy,” Moore said. “WEHC is committed to serving the people of Southwest Virginia.”
