David Cahill Is A Professional You Can Bank On

He’s a loan officer, with a heart of gold.

David started working when he was 16 years old. He began as a grocery bagger at Food City and was soon elevated to cashier. He then grew into a management position. As a college student he embraced the chance to do an internship at First Bank and Trust where he got to shadow every department at the bank from bank teller to bank officer. He made such a great impression, the bank offered him a job prior to him graduating from Emory & Henry. 

These days he’s a loan officer with a heart that allows him to deliver good news with a sense that he is helping his neighbors – and he delivers bad news with a gentle touch that offers a little education about the loan process that could make the denied patron more successful next time.

But despite a busy career, he spends a lot of his time doing community service.

He comes back to the Emory & Henry campus to speak with current students about the importance of internships and what it’s like to be in banking. He’s a presenter through First Bank and Trust’s financial literacy program where he enjoys talking with school kids about personal finances and careers in banking. And he’s a well-respected member of Abingdon’s Noon Rotary Club (celebrating their 100th anniversary in 2023). So whether it’s the golf ball drop or the infamous Rotary Frolics, he gives a lot of time to giving “Service Above Self.” In fact, he’s on the writing committee for this year’s Frolics event (January 26-27, 2024).

And, he manages to squeeze in time with friends and a regular workout at the gym. It seems almost an understatement when David says, “I like being busy!”
