Open for Business: Carriger Hall Ribbon-Cutting

During the Homecoming 2023 festivities, more than 100 donors and friends gathered in the J. D. and Loraine Nicewonder lobby in the newly renovated Carriger Hall to celebrate its reopening as the new home of Emory & Henry’s School of Business. The grand old building, with original construction dating back to 1908, stands tall in the middle of the College’s beautiful campus and is the site of many warm memories for alumni.

“I am grateful to our Board of Trustees and the senior team who believed this building was worth saving and engaged in intentional and tough conversations in 2019-2020,” said President John W. Wells. “So many of us planned and created the map to restore this to house the School of Business. As we grow into a university, this is precisely what is needed to propel us forward.”

School of Business speaker The College is incredibly grateful for the many alumni and friends who gave so generously to fund the renovation of Carriger Hall. Their gifts will ensure that generations of E&H students will receive a first-class business education in a state-of-the-art facility. The renovated space includes classrooms, faculty offices, a board room and collaborative student workspaces, all outfitted with latest technology. The halls are lined with photographs of Carriger Hall depicting the academic, spiritual and social experiences that have occurred in this space over the last 115 years.

Mills Becouvarakis ’24, a current student-athlete and president of the Business & Investment Club at Emory & Henry, stated, “I know this investment will offer a return ten times over and I hope it will impact the lives of hundreds of future students. The experience of being taught by world-class faculty with a challenging academic curriculum housed in this beautiful space is undoubtedly one of the jewels of the crown of Emory & Henry College.”

The academic experience at Emory & Henry is the heartbeat of the institution, and the innovative programming and education taking place across the campus inspire and prepare students to be future leaders across the globe.
