Max Palmer, ‘17, Discovers Prejudice between Dominicans and Haitians

Palmer is researching the prejudice between Dominicans and Haitians and defining racism in population where white European descent is a minority.

The Cleveland, Ohio native traveled to the Dominican Republic and Haiti where he was able to see a different view of racism and was able to improve is spanish and interviewing skills.

The Civic Innovation and Spanish Language Culture double major is fascinated by new cultures and their world views. He says this experience help him become,”“ a better colleague, servant leader, and change-maker through my acquired listening and other research skills.” a better colleague, servant leader, and change-maker through my acquired listening and other research skills.” He applied to the Peace Corps and hopes to accept a position in a Spanish speaking country so he can ““continue to apply his knowledge and experience to the innovative change-maker that needs to be done there.”
