WEHC Launches Unique Fundraiser: The Sound of Music
We’ve never done anything like this before!! Join us September 21-27 for a week of local music aimed at raising important funds for WEHC. You’re invited to be part of a live studio audience, or tune in on the air to celebrate our many and varied musical voices! We are Your listener supported radio voice for southwest Virginia!
You’re invited to join us for a week of musical celebration September 21-27. This is a unique fundraising opportunity that aims to celebrate the variety of music in our region, highlight local musicians, and raise money for the Voice of Southwest Virginia, WEHC-FM. Help us reach our goal of $36,000 by making a donation. For each of these events there will be a simultaneous live broadcast on WEHC.
We kick things off, Saturday, September 21st at 6pm with Glade Spring middle school phenoms, Keraunos. The 90’s garage band is back! Wyatt Crawford, Delilah Crosswhite, and Noah Wilhilte are taking their school and local venues by storm and it’s our job to encourage them. Please tune in or join us in the lobby of WEHC to show your support!!
Sunday, September 22nd award-winning rapper, R.E.D. Worth It takes the stage of the Kennedy Reedy Theatre at 3pm for a live performance on Appalachian Artists Live! For over a year Kevin Edwards has been exploring all that the region has to offer musically on his weekly program. This show is free and open to the public.
On Monday, the 23rd we head to Tumbling Creek Cider for a special live remote broadcast of Keys to the Game with Emory & Henry Football color commentator, Gary Lester, and head football coach, Quintin Hunter. They’ll be covering all things football and answering your questions as Tumbling Creek serves up fresh, locally made cider. Make your plans to join us from 5:30-8pm and take home a WEHC pint glass. The broadcast starts promptly at 6pm. (238 W Main St Suite 35, Abingdon)
The evening of Tuesday, September 24th we return to the Kennedy Reedy Stage for a good old-fashioned Square Dance! Grab your dancing shoes and a friend and join us for a fun-filled evening of music. No experience necessary.
The old-time bonanza continues on Wednesday the 25th at Summer’s Rooftop where we’ll meet for music and drinks and a 7pm live broadcast hosted by David Winship. (102 Court St NE, Abingdon).
THURSDAY EVENING WEHC SPEAKEASY: POSTPONED
And last but not least, we’ll be at Sweetbay Brewing on Friday, September 27th wrap the fundraiser up and celebrate the talent of our local musicians. Join us from 7-9pm for the Ledgerwood Blues Band. (149 Deadmore St SE, Abingdon).
