Ryan Bowyer

Vice President for Student Experience Office of the President

Ryan returned to Emory & Henry in March, 2018. He has served as the Executive Director of Strategic Initiatives, Dean of Students, and began as the Vice President for Student Experience in January, 2024.

As the Vice President for Student Experience, Ryan oversees the Division of Student Affairs. The Division of Student Affairs houses five key areas of the institution:

- NCAA Division II Athletics;

- Student Affairs, including housing and residence life, greek life, campus recreation and club sports, student activities, new student orientation, student rights and responsibilities, student media, and student government association;

- Student Success, including first year and pre-major studies academic advising, academic success coaching, accessibility support services, early intervention response, and tutoring and supplemental instruction;  

- OCR Compliance, including Title VI and Title IX response; and, 

- Health and Wellness, including student health services and counseling services. 

Prior to Emory & Henry, he worked at Coastal Carolina University in University Housing and the Dean of Students Office, and at Methodist University in Student Life. At Methodist, he specifically oversaw Greek Life, Campus Media, and Student Activities. 

Currently, Ryan is a doctoral student at the University of Southern Mississippi and expects to graduate in December, 2025. He has a master’s of science degree in education from Radford University (2012), and a bachelor’s of arts degree in history from Emory & Henry (2010).

Ryan lives in Meadowview with his family.
