Student Achievement
In its Policy on Institutional Obligations for Public Disclosure, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) requires that institutions publish “statements of its goals for student achievement and the success of students in achieving those goals.” Section 8 (Student Achievement) of SACSCOC standards requires institutions to disclose such information during the Fifth-Year Interim Report and the decennial reaffirmation of accreditation.
The disclosures provided are intended to satisfy SACSCOC policy requirements in between routine compliance certifications. This information is updated during the fall term of the academic year.
Six-year Undergraduate Graduation Rate
Emory & Henry uses the IPEDS six-year graduation rate (GRS 150%) to monitor student achievement. The established threshold of acceptability is the median IPEDS six-year graduation rate of the University’s peer institutions. This measure was selected because IPEDS data is scrutinized by the National Center for Educational Statistics thus providing quality data with which to compare performance against institutions similar to E&H.

Undergraduate Retention Rate
Emory & Henry uses the IPEDS first time in a college, fall-to-fall retention rate to monitor student achievement. The established threshold of acceptability is the median IPEDS retention rate of the University’s peer institutions. This measure was selected because IPEDS data is scrutinized by the National Center for Educational Statistics thus providing quality data with which to compare performance against institutions similar to E&H.

First Destination Rate
Emory & Henry uses the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) Career Outcomes Rate for monitoring student achievement. The established threshold of acceptability is the NACE Career Outcomes Rate for bachelor’s degree graduates in the Southeast region. This measure was selected because the NACE First Destination Survey is the industry standard for collecting job and graduate school placement data, with the southeast region chosen because over 85% of the University’s students come from this region.

Licensure and Certification Exams
Education
The Education program uses three prescribed Virginia Department of Education Licensure Assessments (Virginia Communication and Literacy Assessment VCLA, Praxis Subject Assessment, and Virginia Reading Assessment VRA) to monitor student achievement. Occupational Therapy
The Occupational Therapy program uses the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) exam pass rate of program graduates to monitor student achievement. These outcomes are published on the program’s webpage.
Physical Therapy
The Physical Therapy program uses the National Physical Therapy Examination (NPTE) licensure exam ultimate pass rate of program graduates to monitor student achievement. These outcomes are published on the program’s webpage.
Physician Assistant Studies
The Physician Assistant Studies program uses the Physician Assistant National Certifying Exam (PANCE) first-time pass rate of program graduates to monitor student achievement. These outcomes are published on the program’s webpage.
