Diversity, equity and inclusion matter! Diversity brings a variety of thoughts, ideas, viewpoints, perspectives, experiences, skills, knowledge and practices to the workplace and fosters a positive environment where everyone has the opportunity to flourish.
About Leadership Emory & Henry
The Leadership Emory & Henry leadership development program invites students, faculty, and staff from historically underrepresented backgrounds, including first-generation students to enhance and develop key leadership skills in the area of diversity, equity and inclusion. The program provides participants who may have experienced educational disparities with opportunities to increase awareness through leadership development, civic engagement and social justice advocacy.

Outcomes of the Program
- To motivate participants to develop and enhance quality leadership knowledge skill and ability
- To increase awareness of diversity, equity & inclusion at school, work, home, play and in the community
- To enhance diversity in the classroom, workplace, church, and community
- To be advocates who are committed to making structural and systemic changes to existing systems of oppression
- Provides an inclusion setting for discussions, events and support on the issues of diversity, equity, inclusion, civic engagement, and social justice
- Helps participants to develop skills, approaches and theories needed in the exercise of leadership that brings about leadership for social change and policy advancement
- Fosters an environment where participants and others can come and talk about concerns and questions as well as bring ideas to create programming, informal discussions and community-wide events that celebrate the richness of the E&H community and the greater Holston Conference of the United Methodist Church service area
