Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (20 U.S.C. § 1681) is an all-encompassing federal law that prohibits sex-based discrimination in programs and activities at educational institutions which receive federal financial assistance.
Training
Emory & Henry has invested in the training of all employees involved in the Title IX processes.
The Title IX Coordinator, Investigators, Advisors, and Hearing Panel have completed training as of August 14, 2020 through Saul Ewing Arnstein & Lehr LLP.
January 13-17, 2023, the Title IX Coordinator (TIXC) completed the following virtual trainings through the Student Conduct Institute at the State University of New York (SUNY):
- Title IX Compliance Learning Path 2022-2023
January 23-27, 2023, the TIXC attended the national conference for Association of Title IX Administrators (ATIXA). During this conference the TIXC attended the following trainings:
- Title IX Coordinator ONE: Foundations
- Title IX Coordinator TWO: Advanced
*certificates of completion are held at the Office of the Title IX Coordinator and the Office of Human Resources.
July 19-July 21, 2021, former Title IX Coordinator, Shannon Patterson and Dean of Students/Hearing Chair, Tracey Wright attended The Four Corners of Title IX Regulatory Compliance through the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice.
Decision Makers, Advisors, and Investigators complete training through the SUNY Student Conduct Institute.
