Welcome to the Woodrow W. McGlothlin Center for the Arts

Welcome to the McGlothlin Center for the Performing Arts 2024–25 season!

We value your interest in our programming and are excited to see you soon in our lovely Kennedy∼Reedy Theatre, Black Box Theatre and Art Gallery.

This year you will see more listings for a film screening and lectures that are offered to our faculty, staff and students and we want to invite you to join us free of charge! There is an amazing line up this year including local resident and nationally acclaimed author Barbara Kingsolver; and Big Stone Gap native and award winning author Adriana Trigiani who brings her Origin Project to Emory with regional students.

Among other productions/performances, the Theatre, Music, and Dance Department is excited to produce two audience favorite musicals this year: You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown and Little Women. Dance students will present The Wolves and Fellowship of Roots and Branches: An Evening of Radical Empathy in Dance and Spoken Word. Fall and Spring Choral Concerts and Symphonic Band and Instrumental Ensemble concerts round out the season.

The Art Gallery has a superior lineup of artists visiting campus for Art Talks and Gallery Opening nights - so do plan to come meet the visiting artists. Emily Wallace (E&H ’04) will be here as the special curator for the first exhibit “Climate Snapshot.” There is no charge for the Art Talks and the Gallery is open Monday through Saturday - so do stop in at your convenience.

We are thrilled to welcome the Symphony of the Mountains - three times this year - adding a new concert with Hymns and our E&H choral members in February 2025. Of course their holiday concert is not one to miss. Tickets are available on their website.

Finally, we can not wait to bring back opera singer and alumnus Michael Austin who will perform for the first time alongside his son and up and coming opera singer, Justin Austin. This remarkable evening on April 12, 2025 will welcome guests who support the arts and all that E&H offers at the McGlothlin Center. Their performance is possible due to generous donors including Edletraut Hunt.

A big thank you to our two new McGlothlin Center for the Arts season sponsors Meade Tractor and Sharp Business Solutions!

We look forward to seeing you soon and are grateful for your support of the arts at Emory & Henry University!
